Notes on FreeCell

  1. FreeCell is apparently spelled “FreeCell”, and not “Free Cell”.
  2. Almost all FreeCell games are winnable. That personally makes it much more fun to play than regular (Klondike) solitaire, since you know going into a game that your skill is being tested much more than your luck.
  3. FreeCell—and solitaires in general—can be seen as a sort of entropy game: we take a disordered deck of cards, lay them out on a table, and With some added rules to make the game fun and interesting—no one plays 52-card pick-up for fun! try to put them back in order again—just to shuffle the deck and do it all over again. We’re having fun with playing with entropy.
  4. I sometimes try to rush to complete a column just so I can have a fifth free cell. Don’t try this. It’s dumb.
